Fire Chief

The Town of Winchester is seeking applications for a full-time Fire Chief. Applicants must possess an associate degree in Fire Science or Fire Officer III and at least 15 years of experience in fire service with 5 years of supervisory experience or any combination of education and experience which demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Minimum qualifications:

 Associate degree in Fire Science or Fire Officer III and at least 15 years of experience in fire service with at least 5 years of supervisory experience or any combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills & abilities. 

Requirements:

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Supervisory experience
• State of Connecticut or Pro-Board Firefighter Level II
• State of Connecticut or Pro-Board Fire Officer III certification or Associate Degree
• State of Connecticut or Pro-Board Fire Instructor II
• Incident Command System Level 400
• Hazardous Materials Operations
• Valid State of Connecticut Q endorsement minimum
• Minimum of Emergency Medical Responder certification
• Confined Space trained within one year
• Strong experience managing volunteer firefighters.
• Minimum five years’ experience as a Chief Officer in a fire department.
• Must meet the physical requirements of the paid daytime firefighter position.
• Pass an interior physical and maintain interior status.
• Must live within a 30-mile radius of Town Hall.
