Job Description
Belmont, Mass., (pop. 27,295 (2020)) seeks a Police Chief with unquestioned integrity, a thorough knowledge of police administration and proven management and leadership skills. Works as a “strong police chief”, Chapter 41, Section 97A, under the direction of a three-member Select Board.
The Police Department’s FY27 budget is $8.25 million; including 48 sworn officers, 9 dispatchers, 7 crossing guards and 1.5 parking control officers.
Applicants will have a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field, a Master’s Degree is preferred; minimum of ten (10) years supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience at the rank of lieutenant or higher.
Salary $200,000 – $230,000 DOQ. Belmont is an equal opportunity employer.
