Job Description

The Town of Bolton (pop. 5,800), situated along the busy Route 117/495 corridor and home to Nashoba Regional High School, is seeking a seasoned, community-focused Law Enforcement leader to serve as our next Police Chief.

Bolton’s Police Department operates with a FY26 budget of $1.8M and includes one Lieutenant, three Sergeants, seven full-time Officers, six part-time Officers, the Animal Control Officer, and one administrative professional. Bolton has a modern Public Safety Facility and is a member of Nashoba Valley Regional Dispatch District.

Appointed by the Select Board and working in close partnership with the Town Administrator, the Chief oversees all aspects of department administration, operations, and personnel management. This role requires a leader who can foster productive relationships with sworn and civilian staff, the Police union, regional partners including dispatch, and the broader community while ensuring that departmental priorities align with Bolton’s mission and public safety needs.

The ideal candidate brings a proven record of leadership, sound judgment, and integrity; exceptional communication skills; and the ability to collaborate effectively with elected and appointed officials, fellow department heads, federal/state/local agencies, and the residents we serve.
Total Anticipated Compensation Package: $124,000 – $148,000.
