Job Description
The West Boylston Fire Department is growing and has openings in new full-time career positions for experienced Firefighter/Paramedics and Firefighter/EMT. These positions are not grant-funded. Duties include: working within a fast-paced paramilitary structure of a progressive and growing fire department that provides fire suppression services, rescue, and paramedic-level emergency medical services to the Town of West Boylston and its neighboring communities. Minimum qualifications include: High School Diploma or equivalent, Massachusetts/ ProBoard Firefighter I/II Certification, Massachusetts EMT-Paramedic or EMT-B/A as applicable, CPR certification, ACLS certification (ALS only), and a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License. Successful candidates must be a non-smoker and pass a thorough background check including an NFPA pre-employment physical with drug screening, Massachusetts HRD physical abilities test (PAT), and must maintain certifications throughout their career as a condition of employment.
Preference will be given to those with a minimum of three (3) years of Firefighting and/or EMS experience, certifications in Pumps and Hydraulics, Aerial Ladders, or Fire Prevention and/ or college degrees in Fire Science, Paramedic Technology, Emergency Management, or Public Administration. Positions are available to start immediately.
Wages will be paid in accordance with the Collective bargaining Agreement between the Town of West Boylston and the International Association of Firefighters Local 5054. Application period is open and will remain open until filled.
