Police Full Time, Newbury Police Department Recruiting Officer Roles
Job Description
NEWBURY — Chief Patricia A. Fisher announces that the Newbury Police Department is recruiting for a full-time Patrol Officer, a full-time Emergency Communications Dispatcher, and various part-time positions.
The full-time positions replace a dispatcher who recently returned to school and a patrol officer who is leaving the Department early next month.
The Department is also seeking to enhance their pool of both part-time dispatchers and patrol officers and invites applications for those roles as well. All part-time police officers must hold a full-time Massachusetts Police Academy certification.
“We’re looking for people who work well both independently and with others; are friendly and approachable; and align with our philosophy of community policing,” Chief Fisher said. “Being able to build and maintain those local relationships is incredibly important in a small town such as Newbury, composed of the unique and special villages of Byfield, Old Town and Plum Island.”
“Just like the town, the Department is also on the smaller side: so our officers must be able to think on their feet and carry out a range of tasks and investigations.”

All applicants must meet minimum eligibility requirements. For patrol officers, this includes completion of the Recruit Officer Course, and the ability to obtain certification with the state Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission.
